Note:        Some activities will be outdoors, so please dress appropriate for the weather. Please be at the observatory by 6:50 pm at the latest as the program will start at 7:00 pm.

Week of October 15 and 16, 2018

A big THANK YOU to all who participated in our Apple Day fundraising activity. As well, congratulations to Lucas Chan from Beavers who won the $25 gift card and stuffed animal raffle prize.

IMPORTANT:

1) Tuesday, October 16, 2018 – deadline to register for Fall Camp. Our group’s fall camp is scheduled for October 26-28 at Shadow Lake Camp in Stouffville. Additional information about the camp can be found at 2018 Fall Camp. If your child is attending the camp, the signed code of conduct, emergency contact information and camp fee should be handed in to one of the Scouters on or before October 16, 2018.

2) Friday, October 19, 2018 – deadline to submit popcorn order forms and payment. Popcorn coordinators will be available at the section meeting on October 15 (for Cubs Monday, Scouts and Venturers) and October 16 (for Beavers and Cubs Tuesday) to collect all order forms and payment. If you are not able to submit your form and payment, please coordinate with Maria (mestrella@7thMarkham.org) to schedule drop-off date on or before October 19.

Week of October 8 and 9, 2018

Below is the schedule of activities for the week beginning October 8:

Thank you to all who participated in the Popcorn Blitz. We had a good turn out and most of our youths were able to canvas an order or two. Good job!

This week will be a busy week for all of our youths and Scouters. We have our Investiture on Tuesday and Apple Day on Friday and Saturday. Details of the activities are as follows:

Note:        (2) Cubs (Monday), Scouts and Venturers will not have their regular Monday night meeting because of Thanksgiving. They are expected to attend the Investiture on Tuesday.

Week of October 1 and 2, 2018 – Popcorn Blitz

Below is the schedule of activities for the week beginning October 1:

Great Adventures Start with Scout Popcorn! 
Fundraising with Scout Popcorn is youth-led and helps youth be better prepared for success in the world! In addition to raising money, youth develop valuable business skills and learn about financial responsibility, marketing strategy development and time management while also increasing their self-esteem and confidence in the process. With Scout Popcorn, our group and youth can plan for exciting activities such as camps, Jamborees, canoe trips and so much more. Help us raise funds by participating in our annual Popcorn Blitz.

REMINDER:  Cubs (Monday Pack), Scouts and Venturers will not have their regular Monday night meeting this week. They will be participating in the popcorn blitz instead.

Week of September 24 and 25, 2018

Below is the schedule of activities for the week beginning September 24:

Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers have started their journey to the Canadian Path. This week, they will be going on a hike and working on their Trail Skills. The details of the hike are as follows:

Time:        7:00 – 8:30 PM [Beavers will finish by 8:00 PM]
Location: Rouge Valley Mennonite Church, 7452 Reesor Road, Markham
Note:        Make sure to wear weather appropriate clothing. Bring a flashlight, whistle, water and drinking mug. Hot chocolate and cookies will be provided after the hike. Families are welcome to attend.

REMINDER: The 2018 Scout Popcorn Kit (includes order form) were handed out at last week’s section meeting. If your child did not receive one, please download the kit from the Parent’s Corner (found on the left side of the page) or let your Section Contact Scouter know.
