Canadian Path

Scouts Canada started a revitalized program called the Canadian Path a few years ago. Because it is a new program, it is not yet 100% complete but we will be incorporating most of its elements into our programs starting this Scouting Year.

For the past few years, we have been incorporating the Canadian Path into our programs. That is, to let the youths plan the activities that they want to do in Scouting. For this Scouting Year, however, we will be more explicit in its application. So, you may hear three keywords from your child when they come home after our meetings … Plan, Do, Review. They will plan what they want to do. They will do them. And then, they will review to determine if what they did was enjoyable and what they learned from it.

In terms of schedule, unlike the previous years, you will not see a detailed full year schedule. Instead, you’ll see a well-defined schedule for the immediate three months (September to November for the Fall) with some ideas for the Winter (December to February) and even higher-level plans (not detailed) for Spring (March to May) and Summer (June to August). Towards the end of November, they will refine their plans for Winter based on what they enjoyed and what they learned from the previous three months.
